Mauritanian Buttermilk (leben) Bottle. Moor People, Mauritania, First half, 20th century

Glass and woven leather
$1,400
This is a very rare object.  The nomadic people of Mauretania have very few possessions.  For this reason, utilitarian objects are treasured and embellished with high craftsmanship.  The marriage of a European glass bottle and the native Moor leather work is intriguing.
The diameter of the bottle top is 2.5 inches. Height, 13.5 inches.
